One database, multiple sites

Hi,

I'm thinking to create in the future a method to use only one database for multiple sites. For example you have one main site
with tons of videos (10 million for example). Child sites only with frontend and a niche configured. Only videos from that niche will be displayed
on the site. The sites can be added from admin and once added, you upload a few files to new site docroot and thats it. Sites have to be on
the same server.

What do you think?

Re: One database, multiple sites

Still thinking about how to make this work. Right now this is the method (parent will be the main site, childs are the sites from the network that use the main site and database):
1. In the parent site admin there will be a panel for managing child sites. Each child site will have its own title, meta properties and a option to manually select which videos should be part of this site (can be one click enter for example you want a nieche for big tits, all videos with tags big tits | big boobs | busty and so on). So basically indexing 10 million of videos and then creating a network of 20 sites all nieche based will be very easy.
2. Each site can have its own static pages (dmca and so on).
3. Should each site have the option to have its own categories (checked some other network, none have this). A option on how to sort the categories on the child site should be available though or a option to select which categories are listed for the child site.

Please let me know if this is good, or if you have any ideas how to make the implementation better.

I'm thinking that we could have a function to translate the categories also. So basically if a user selects another language, the categories titles|description will be translated.
